Samsung this week announced updates to two of its popular Windows 8 laptops targeted at business users: the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro 11.6-inch convertible notebook-tablet, and the 13-inch Series 9 Premium Ultrabook, positioned as a Macbook Air competitor.
Samsung’s convertible ATIV Smart PC Pro 700TC has a 10-point touch capable 11.6″ display with Corning Gorilla Glass, 400 nits SuperBright Plus technology, and a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The laptop also packs an Intel Core 1.7Ghz i5 processor, 4GB or RAM, and 128GB SSD of internal storage. The ATIV Smart PC Pro is supports AT&T 4G LTE connectivity. Samsung lists the starting price of the ATIV Smart PC 700T at $1,600, but you can get a similarly spec’ed model on Amazon for $1,050.
Samsung’s Series 9 Premium Ultrabook has been positioned to compete with Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Air, and most reviewers agree. Like the Air, the Series 9 Premium is super thin and weighs 2.56 lbs. The 13.3″ display offers a full 1920 x 1080 resolution with Samsung’s SuperBright technology. The notebook has an Intel Core i7-3517U 1.9Ghz processor, 4GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD of internal storage.
The Series 9 Premium also employs PowerPlus charging technology which along with the device’s 4-cell Lithium-Polyester battery can help extend the product’s lifespan by up to three times of a conventional battery. Samsung backs up this claim as well with a three-year limited warranty.
The Series 9 Premium Ultrabook was priced at $1,900 at launch, but is already selling for a more palatable $1,399 on Amazon. For $270 less, you can opt for the late-2012 model with a Core i5 processor and 128 GB SSD.
You can find a complete list of retailers for both laptops on Samsung’s website.
