If you are a Samsung Android fan, you can now pre-order the new Galaxy Tab 3 tablets in 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch screen sizes. The tablets — which are scaled down, cheaper versions of Sammy’s original Galaxy Tab line — are scheduled to ship on July 7.
For $199, the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 gives you 8GB of internal storage and a 1024×600 resolution display powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Marvell processor. The 8″ and 10.1″ versions each have 1280×800 resolution screens and 16GB of storage and cost $299 and $399, respectively. The 8-incher is powered by Samsung’s 1.5GHz quad-core Exynos processor, while the 10.1-inch version has an Intel Z2560 1.6GHz dual-core processor.
You can add more storage on each tablet via the microSD storage slot, and Sammy is also including 50GB of free Dropbox storage for two years. On the software side, you get Android 4.1 (Jellybean) on the 7-inch Tab 3, and the most recent Android 4.2 (Key Lime Pie) on the two larger tabs. All three devices come in your choice of white and “gold brown” colors.
To sweeten the deal further, Samsung is throwing in one year of Boingo hotspot service, three free months of Hulu Plus, and a $10 Google Play voucher with each Galaxy Tab 3 purchase. Each tablet also has an IR blaster that can be used instead of your TV/DVD remote.
As on Samsung’s Galaxy phones, the Galaxy Tab 3 tablets sport physical buttons including its trademark front menu button. Although this frees up a bit more screen space, it makes it harder to switch between portrait and landscape modes.
You can find the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablets now at a variety of online and brick-and-mortar stores, including Samsung.com.
