If you’re still looking for a good free or cheap Internet calling service, you might want to check out MobiVoip, a new free Android and iOS app that lets you make free or low cost VoIP voice and video calls on mobile phones, anywhere in the world.
All calls and text messages are free between registered users of MobiVoip. Calls to non-users start at one cent per minute for US numbers, and two cents per minute for international calls. The app supports 3G, 4G, EDGE and Wi-Fi, and optimizes traffic flow to provide fluent calls, according to its developer New Cedar Holdings.
For mobile messaging, your phone number serves as your user ID, so you don’t have to remember another username or password. Upon installation, the app quickly locates all friends in your contacts list who already have MobiVoip installed. The app runs quietly in the background, and self-activates when you receive a VoIP call or text message. It also notifies you whenever another MobiVoip user is online.
MobiVoip is available for Android 2.1 or higher on Google Play, and iOS 5.0 or later on the App Store.
