- Six-core “A11 Bionic” processor promises to be faster than the A10.

- Edge-to-edge display with curved edges, like Samsung’s Galaxy S8.
- Top cut-out area for the front-facing camera and sensors (unlike the Galaxy S8).
- No more home button — raise or tap to wake, and swipe up for home.
- Face ID replaces TouchID to unlock your phone–Apple claims it’s more secure.
- Infrared sensor, flood illuminator and dot projector for Face ID and other apps.
- Face ID for Apple Pay: double-click the side button and look at your phone.
- Swipe up and pause to see the multitasking menu.
- Bigger side button, which you hold to access Siri (or say “hey Siri” as usual).
- Dual 12-megapixel front cameras: f/1.8 aperture on the wide lens + f/2.4 on the telephoto.
- Optical image stabilization on both wide and telephoto lenses.
- Optical zoom; digital zoom up to 10x, as on the 8 Plus.

- “Animoji”: Use the selfie cam to save and send emoji with your own expressions.
