There’s no shortage of soft keyboard apps for Android smartphones and tablets, but that doesn’t mean there’s not room for one more keyboard that aims to be better than the rest. Vancouver-based WordLogic has joined the predictive-text club with its new iKnowU Keyboard app for Android. The app predicts not just words and phrases, but complete sentences, and lets you add them with a simple gesture.
True to its name, iKnowU also aims to learn your writing style and preferences as you type, thanks to a learning algorithm that makes the text prediction more accurate the more you use it. WordLogic claims that when it tested iKnowU, users typed up to seven times faster than using a conventional smartphone keyboard.
The app predicts names of people, places, email addresses, websites, and more. iKnowU also offers automatic spelling correction, and if auto-correct misunderstands you, you can swipe across the keyboard to delete it or choose the green suggestion from the top and iKnowU will learn what you type for future reference.
The app also lets you select a right or left handed preference, select various keyboards and themes. Finally, its Cloud Sync feature will synchronize all of your preferences and history to all your devices.
The iKnowU app is available to download from the Google Play store for smartphones and tablets for $1.99, with a free time-limited trial version also available. There’s a limited-time free trial version for both smartphones and tablets. Before you download, you can check out the short demo video below.
