Google today launched a new Android Device Manager app that lets you remotely track, call, lock down, or reset your lost or stolen device’s screen lock PIN–all from another Android device.
The Android Device Manager app lets you set up a remote locate or remote wipe for your target handset by sending a notification to it through the second device. Logically, if you need to erase your device, the app can only remotely erase it when the lost or stolen device is online.
The new app duplicates the functionality of the web interface in the Google Play Services feature that Google launched a few months ago, so you can track or control one phone or tablet using another, as long as you’ve first enabled this feature in the Google Settings function.
Android Device Manager is available for free on Google Play, where the app has already received an average user ratting of 4.4 out of 5.
