Florida-based AppRiver this week announced CipherPost Pro, a secure email app that lets Apple iOS and Android users create, read, track and reply to encrypted messages on their smartphones or tablets. For organizations that already use AppRiver’s hosted email services, CipherPost Pro is free. And because the mobile app doesn’t require enterprise installation, individual users can also download it from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, and then opt to pay the monthly encryption service, which works with all major email providers.
Because CipherPost Pro is a cloud-based (Web-hosted) service, no private data is stored on devices, so confidential information stays safe in the cloud. If a device is lost or stolen, the user or other authorized administrator can remotely enable or disable the app to safeguard the account against unauthorized access.
CipherPost Pro’s ‘Delivery Slip’ feature lets users track the receipt of secure messages in real-time and see if messages have been read, forwarded, printed or deleted. It’s even possible to recall a message after it’s been read. Although CipherPost Pro is hosted, the app itself is native, so users can read or compose messages offline to save battery life and bandwidth.
AppRiver says that CipherPost Pro helps business and government users maintain compliance with data security regulations including HIPAA, PSQIA, PCI DSS, Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, FINRA Rule 8210, NHS security policy and others. For organizations that embrace BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies, the app can be deployed through MDM (Mobile Device Management) systems without requiring enterprise-level installation of software or hardware, and administrators can globally manage compliance policies for any device.
CipherPost Pro for mobile is available for free on Apple’s iTunes App Store and Google Play. For details on the enterprise version, see appriver.com.
