China based ZTE has announced a new Intel Atom-powered smartphone, the Grand X 2 In, which is the successor to last year’s Grand X IN.  The Grand X 2 In is one of the first smartphones powered by a 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 (CloverTrail+) processor.  Other specs are rather standard: 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and expandable via microSD.

The 4.5-inch display is “Full HD” at 1280 × 720, and there’s a 1-megapixel camera on front, and 8-megapixel camera on the back. ZTE claims the back camera delivers 24 frames per second of burst shooting, zero shutter lag, and image stabilization.

Thanks to Intel processor’s hyper-threading functionality, ZTE says the phone promises faster webpage loads, application launch times and content download times, as well as amazing graphics capabilities and responsive multitasking. The handset includes built-in Audio enhancement technology and Wireless Display (WiDi) which enables wireless streaming between connected media devices.

The Grand X 2 In will come with Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean”, skinned with ZTE’s own MIUI-like user interface.  The phone runs on a 2000 mAh removable battery.

The ZTE Grand X In 2 is due for release in Europe during the third quarter.
